I
have no clue as to when or where my granfather John Woodyatt was born. But, I think he was born sometime around the time
when Jesus Christ was a Lance Corporal and born in the woods someplace. Maybe someone in the family will tell me.
I do know, that, he immigrated to the United
States sometime in the 1800's through England. He claimed to be from the Malvern Hills, wherever that is?
He married twice, first to Ella M. Woodyatt
( Albertson ) with who he had three children. Next he married a lass from Boston of Irish decend named
"Elizabeth Woodyatt ( Joynt ) my grandmother with whom he had four children and then migrated westword settling somewhere
in the midwest. It was then known as the "Wild West"!
The only other thing that I heard was
that the two of them enjoyed sitting on the front porch of their farm house in their rocking chairs, smoking wacky tobacco
of an unknown orgin in their corncob pipes. It is also said that they brewed various beverages such as whiskey, wine, and
beer, but had soft and hard cider for their guests.
I have also been told he was a wild west sherrif! Possibly in Sterling?
I also believe he liked
to hunt and fish and grow things in his garden to feed his family. It is rummored that he brought a "4-10"
double-barrelled shotgun from England that he gave to my father. I am the present owner of that gun.
My grandfather and grandmother disappeared
or died before I was born
